Grade 1-8 sex Ed Curriculum - summary

Kathleen Wynne wants to update the sexual education part of the grade 1 - 8 curriculum.

She promised "wide parent consultation" which to her, means that schools will HAND PICK ONE (1) parent from each school to represent the views of that's schools parents.

Kathleen's adviser at the time of preparation this curriculum, was recently arrested on chargers of making child pornography.

Here is my  quick summary of what your kids will be thought

For more detail, please see this article

In each grade, kids are thought / must understand the following:

Grade 1
  • identify body parts like testicles and vulva
Grade 3
  • understand that some students have two mother and two fathers
Grade 4
  • girls breast will start to develop
  • you may want to "go out" with others
Grade 5
  • girls breast will develop, penis and testicles will grow larger.
  • understand the exact physical process of fertilization (ie " when penis is in the vagina")
  • understand that you cannot choose or change their sexual orientation and gender identity

Grade 6
  • masturbation is pleasurable; good way of exploring your body; harmless; many people do it.
  • avoid words like "husband" or "wife" in favor of "partner".

Grade 7 & 8
  • you can "show caring" by touching genital and having sexual  intercourse
  • if you choose to have sex, talk to a health professional [taking to parents is never mentioned]
  • delay sexual activity until you "are ready". It is implied that ready means being able to talk to their partner about how they feel and how to practice safer sex
  • show understanding of gender identify (male, female, two-spirited, transgendered, transsexual, intersex) and sexual orientation (e.g., heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual), and that not embracing either, can lead to trouble [aka, Catholic teaching has no room here at all]
